Sacred Timeline

Eastern Samoa the MCU continues to grow, the Wonder timeline gets more and more difficult to keep track of. For unmatched thing, Marvel projects aren't always released in chronological order. Advantageous, their timeline is a little onwards of ours – the latest MCU movies and shows drive put over in 2024, for good example. Cast off the multiverse into the mix (thanks, Loki and Spider-Man: None Way Home) and you've got a lot to contend with.

That's wherefore we've rounded up every MCU movie and Television show and sorted them into written record order, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger in the '40s all the way up to Nary Way Base and Hawkeye. We've also included shows that may no longer be canyon, like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and, course, we've taken the multiverse into bill. So, without encourage ado, keep version to find KO'd everything you call for to know about the Wonder timeline.

Greenbac: A * means multiverse or timeline trickery, which power not exist part of the mainline parliamentary law of events.

Marvel timeline: 1931-1995

Marvel timeline

  • Agents of Screen season 7 (1931-2019)*
  • Captain United States: The First Avenger (1943-45)
  • Unmatched Shot: Agent Carter (1944)
  • Agent James Earl Carter Jr. season 1 (1946)
  • Agent Carter season 2 (1947)
  • Captain Marvel (1995)

Things are relatively five-needled – for now. The tale of Steve Will Rogers does, admittedly, occur partly in 2011 thanks to the Number one Avenger's Charles William Post-credits scene. Yet the vast majority of the narrative takes place during World War 2 in 1943-1945, so we've enclosed it Hera for clarity's saki (this testament become a running report).

After that, the Agent Carter Combined Shot (which charts the foundation of S.H.I.E.L.D) begins and ends in 1944. Both season of Agent Carter take place after that. Then, some 50 years later, Captain Marvel crashes into Blackbuster and meets Nick Fury. Later on that, in that respect's a big time gap until a destined Iron Man shows up.

Confusingly, Agents of Shield season 7 sawing machine the team travel back to 1931 and so eventually work their way back to 2019, via some pitstops in decades along the way. It calm down hasn't been canonically confirmed whether that's now part of the Marvel timeline or one from the multiverse, though the show seemingly cut away totally ties with the wider MCU in favor of a more smooth storytelling go about. For all practical purposes, it's essentially other multiverse running duplicate to the main timeline.

Marvel timeline: 2010-2012

Here's where Iron Man fits into the MCU timeline

(Visualize credit: Walt Disney/Wonder Studios)
  • Iron Man (2010)
  • Iron Man 2 (2011)
  • The Incredible Tower (2011)
  • Unit of ammunition: The Adviser (2011)
  • Unit of ammunition: A Funny Matter Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer (2011)
  • Thor (2011)
  • Avengers (2012)
  • One Shot: Item 47 (2012)
  • Ironman 3 (2012)

This is where things in the Marvel timeline commenc to rage up a tur. Iron World, according to Marvel's 10 Years of Marvel Studios book, actually takes place in 2010, not 2008. Iron Man 2 comes a class later, A do The Unimagined Hulk and Thor, which both, incredibly, make come out that same week .

Tucked in-between the Jade Monster's solo movie and Thor's arriver along Dry land, however, are a pair of One Shots (which were very in vogue at Wonder during the azoic 2010s and meant to be an added incentive for fans to buy the DVDs). Of course, Avengers tops IT whol soured with the Battle of New York in 2012. Then comes Iron Man 3, which, despite being a Phase 2 film, takes place later that same year. Still with me? It only gets tougher from here on out.

Marvel timeline: 2013-2015

Marvel Timeline

  • Unmatched Scene: All Come the King (2013)
  • Agents of Carapace season 1, episodes 1-7 (2013)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013)
  • Agents of Buckler flavor 1, episodes 8-16 (2014)
  • Captain The States: The Winter Soldier (2014)
  • Agents of Shield season 1, episodes 17-22 (2014)
  • Madcap season 1 (2014)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
  • Guardians of the Wandflower 2 (2014)
  • Agents of Shield season 2, episodes 1-19 (2015)
  • Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
  • Agents of Shield season 2, episodes 20-22 (2015)
  • Ant-Man (2015)
  • Jessica Daniel Jones season 1 (2015)
  • Daredevil season 2 (2015)
  • Luke Cage harden 1 (2015)
  • Agents of Screen season 3 episodes 1-10 (2015)

Are you sitting comfortably? The All Hail the King Unit of ammunition comes single months after the events of Iron Man 3, firmly placing it in 2013. Meanwhile, Thor: The Dark World is straight off mentioned after the 8th episode of the first Agents of Shield season. A suchlike matter happens with The Winter Solder (this was when Wonder Idiot box were nerve-racking to tie their series into the movie events, something they advanced stopped up doing). Everything from episode 17 right through to the end of the first time of year takes place after Hydra's be after is uncovered in Winter Soldier.

Guardians of the Galax and its sequel, Vol. 2, take place in 2014, immediately after each new. Meanwhile, Daredevil season 1 too takes place that year.

In 2015, Agents of Shield season 2 deals with the fallout from Age of Ultron post-installment 19. From thither, information technology's a evenhandedly straightforward run to the end of the year: Pismire-Man, Jessica Jones time of year 1, Daredevil time of year 2, Luke Cage time of year 1 (as per Luke Cage histrion, it takes place "few months" afterward Jessica Jones), and the showtime 10 episodes of Agents of Shield season 3 – because in that location's a slight time-jump after that.

Marvel timeline: 2016

Marvel Timeline

(Project course credit: Disney/Wonder Studios)
  • Agents of Shield season 3, episodes 11-19 (2016)
  • Captain America: Civil War (2016)
  • Agents of Shield season 3, episodes 20-22 (2016)
  • Agents of Shield season 4, episodes 1-8 (2016)
  • Agents of Shield: Catapult (2016)
  • Agents of Shield season 4, episodes 9-22 (2016)
  • Iron Clenched fist season 1 (2016)
  • The Defenders (2016)
  • Spider-Man: Return (2016)
  • The Punisher season 1 (2016)
  • Repair Fantastic (2016-2017)

Atomic number 3 you can tell, 2016 was quite a wild ride in the Marvel universe. The Marvel timeline, though, is pretty easy to follow. Agents of Shield season 3's ordinal episode has a bit of a jump, and Civil War is dealt with from episode 20 onward. Agents of Cuticle mollify 4 is only interrupted by the Catapult web series (which is non-essential).

Spider-Man: Return did its horizontal surface best to ruffle up the MCU timeline, but it's definitely in 2016, every bit explained by the director.

On the Marvel Netflix sidelong of things, meanwhile, Iron Clenched fist season 1 introduces the in conclusion of the Defenders, who and then team up later that year in The Defenders. The Punisher season 1 takes place later on all of those street-level shenanigans have concluded. Doctor Strange, of class, isn't bound by time. His write up starts in 2016 and continues into 2017. Speaking of which…

Wonder timeline: 2017-2018

Marvel Timeline

  • Agents of Screen season 5, episodes 1-19 (2017)
  • Black Panther (2017)
  • Latrodectus mactans (2017)
  • Jessica Jones season 2 (2017)
  • Inhumans temper 1 (2017)
  • Luke Cage season 2 (2017)
  • Robust Clenched fist flavour 2 (2017)
  • Daredevil season 3 (2017)
  • The Punisher season 2 (2017)
  • Jessica Jones season 3 (2017)
  • Runaways season 1 and 2 (2017)
  • Dissemble and Dagger season 1 and 2 (2017)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (2017-2018)
  • Agents of Shield time of year 5, episodes 19-22 (2018)
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
  • Avengers: Infinity State of war (2017-2018)
  • Agents of Shield harden 6 (2018*)

This is information technology. The year of the Snap.

The Wonder Netflix shows are a lot of a muchness at this point, though St. Luke John Milton Cage Jr. season 2 definitely comes earlier Iron Fist season 3, and Daredevil harden 3 landing a little later on the timeline makes a trifle more sense thematically. Then there are the Freeform shows, Cloak and Sticker along with Runaways, which also take place pre-Snap. Or, at any rate, they have not dealt with Thanos's reign of terror properly yet, so in that location remains some question over when exactly they take place.

The Latrodectus mactans movie may be part of Marvel Phase 4, only IT's actually tucked in-between Civil War and Infinity War. As the third Avengers motion picture ends in 2018, it's a safe guess to predict that Natasha Romanoff's standalone pic takes pose in 2017.

Black Panther is perchance the hardest to place. The death of T'Challa's forefather in Civil War is yet uncooked by the time his movie rolls around but, according to Marvel's possess official timeline to mark the ten-class day of remembrance of the MCU, Black Panther is set in 2017, non 2016. Send your complaints to Kevin Feige.

Finally, when it comes to Pismire-Man and the Wasp and Thor: Ragnarok, both occur immediately before Eternity Warfare, and then can embody watched in either order. Pismire-Man and the Wasp's post-credits shot, though, runs simultaneously alongside Thanos' Gingersnap, while Ragnarok's mail service-credits only take us to the beginning of Infinity War. Yes, that's confusing. Thor: Ragnarok before Ant-Man and the Wasp is probably your best wager.

Things don't stop thither, though. There's the conundrum of Agents of Shield season 6. With flavour 5 explicitly leading into Thanos' big moment, fans were slightly confused when season 6 unsuccessful to feature half the world disappearing. The showrunners have since reasoned that they simply couldn't deal with the Snap A they – at the clock of writing season 6 – were not aware of how End game and Spider-Man: Far From Home would deal with "the Blip". In-population, the cinch takes property in 2018 even though there's absolutely no reference to Thanos wiping out half the world in Agents of Shield season 6. Try not to think about IT.

Marvel timeline: 2018-2024

Marvel Timeline

(Visualise credit: Marvel Studios/Disney)
  • Avengers: End game (2018-2023)
  • Agents of Buckler time of year 7 finale (2019*)
  • WandaVision (2023)
  • Loki (Sort of 2023, sort of 2012)
  • Shang dynasty-Chi and The Legend of the Tenner Rings (2023)
  • The Falcon and the Wintertime Soldier (2023/2024)
  • Wanderer-Man: Far From Home (2024)
  • Spider-Man: No Way National (2024)
  • Eternals (2024)
  • Hawkeye (Dec 2024)

Avengers: Endgame has a clear five-year-pass over afterwards the Rupture (dubbed "the Blip" in Far From Home), substance much of the picture takes place in 2023, five years later on the close of Infinity State of war. WandaVision sees Scarlet Witch trap an entire town in a force field following the demise of Vision. Despite the sitcom antics taking place ostensibly in doubled time periods, this all happens post-End game.

Loki, meanwhile, takes place remote of our conception of time. The primary Loki Variant of the show is technically snatched from 2012. Merely theorists hold that Kang the Conqueror witnesses the timeline being broken – hence unleashing the multiverse – scarcely as Wanda looks into the Darkhold during the WandaVision finale. Loki rattling is a confusing one – but if you're tackling the MCU, this is believably the place it makes signified to watch, other you'll follow waiting years for more multiverse shenanigans.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the X Rings potential takes aim in 2023. It definitely comes after Avengers: Endgame, and Robert I Banner's cameo shows that he hasn't recovered from his universe-fixture snap just nonetheless, plus everyone's still talking about The Pip. That places the movie at a few weeks or months out from Endgame, only with no fixed date.

The Falcon and the Overwinter Soldier takes place six months after Endgame, which, depending connected which month the events Endgame happens in, way the Captain America spinoff is localise sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. Lag, Spider-Man: Farthest From Home is set eight months after Endgame with Saint Peter the Apostle Parker mourning the loss of Tony Stark. That places it at just round the 2024 summer holidays, hence the European holiday. Wanderer-Man: No Way Home is rumoured to pick up exactly where Army for the Liberation of Rwanda From Household left off.

Eternals takes identify after Avengers: Endgame, and most credible just after Wanderer-Man: Far From Abode. With the movie seeing a giant Celestial come out of the ocean, it would glucinium hard for that not to have an effect on the MCU going forward.

Hawkeye, we were told by the series' director, takes topographic point 2 years aft End game. With its Christmas setting, nevertheless, that places the series reasonable under the two year mark – at Christmas 2024. That's the most recent MCU outing to date.

As for Agents of Harbor, which is maddeningly dense in its divergence of the Marvel timeline, they pretty much gave up along any semblance of existence in the same universe as the MCU movies. Season 7 goes on a mad trip through fourth dimension, heading back out into the 40s, 50s, and 60s. The team so pop noncurrent into 2018, and it appears the finale ends in 2019, one class after the events of the 6th season (a time they're eventually competent to return to). This all happens, seemingly, on a different timeline, one where Thanos ne'er fully invaded Earth. Some fans deliver reasoned that this could mean the non-Disney Advantageous TV shows befall on a wholly different Wonder timeline to the movies – which is probably the easiest way of superficial at it.

What about What If...?

What If...?

(Persona credit: Wonder Studios)

What If...? is difficult to nail down, mainly because information technology's kick in the multiverse, and each episode takes a different Marvel movie as its springboard. It gets its own department of the timeline for that intellect, and the first flavour has ranged from the starting time of the MCU with Maitre d' US: The First Avenger up to the Avengers: Eternity War geological era.
